Application Network

What is it? 

An application network is a way to link applications, data, and devices over APIs (application programming interfaces). This makes it possible to expose some or all of their data and assets on the network. 

Consequently, other consumers have the opportunity to discover, reuse, and self-serve these assets. Additionally, an application network may extend all over the organization or even reach external ecosystems. 

How does it work? 

Using an application network enables data exchange between applications. Any app may be easily plugged into or unplugged from the network. Meanwhile, each newly connected application increases the network’s value. 

In this context, an API’s role is to define the provider and consumer of data and assets. At the same, the API allows for managing interactions closely. 

Everything posted on an application network is secured and governed, thus helping the organization learn about the corresponding impact on business.
