TEKTELIC Introduces FUOTA Capability for Remote Device Updates
Summary

TEKTELIC is introducing FUOTA (Firmware Update Over-the-Air) capabilities across its KONA Core Network Server and LoRaWAN® sensors, enabling seamless remote firmware updates and simplified device management for large-scale IoT deployments.

This new capability allows customers to remotely update and enhance supported devices, saving time, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring consistent performance across expanding IoT networks.

What FUOTA Means for You

Firmware Update Over-the-Air (FUOTA) allows IoT devices in the field to receive firmware updates wirelessly through the LoRaWAN® network.

Instead of physically accessing each device, updates can now be deployed automatically through the TEKTELIC Network Server, reaching thousands of supported sensors across various sites efficiently and securely.

With FUOTA, organizations can deliver new features, functionality enhancements, and firmware improvements to devices in operation — keeping their networks modern, optimized, and running at peak performance.

Why This Matters

  • Deliver new features and enhancements. Easily deploy firmware that introduces new functionality or improves device capabilities.
  • Save time and reduce costs. Remotely update devices across any location, eliminating manual servicing.
  • Keep your devices up to date. Apply the latest firmware versions to maintain reliability and stability.
  • Ensure reliability. Maintain consistency across your entire deployment and avoid version mismatches.
  • Extend device life. Regular updates improve long-term performance and reduce replacement needs.

FUOTA gives organizations greater control over their IoT infrastructure — ensuring supported devices operate efficiently and remain aligned with evolving requirements.

How It Works

FUOTA uses the LoRaWAN® network to deliver firmware updates wirelessly and securely to TEKTELIC devices.

Updates are transferred in small, encrypted packets to ensure reliability even in low-power or long-range conditions. Once received, the device verifies and installs the new firmware automatically, continuing normal operation throughout the process.

This allows system administrators to keep devices current, improve performance, and strengthen network security — all without downtime or manual intervention.

Built for Smarter, Simpler IoT Management

FUOTA readiness reflects TEKTELIC’s commitment to efficiency, reliability, and customer success.

Combined with TEKTELIC’s proven gateway performance and end-to-end solutions, this feature helps organizations manage growing IoT ecosystems effortlessly, keeping their networks optimized and devices running at their best.
