Through this network, individual lights or groups of lights can be remotely monitored and controlled, adjusting their brightness based on time, weather conditions, or specific events. The smart street lighting solution reduces energy consumption and maintenance costs, while increasing public safety and improving urban aesthetics.

The Challenge

The main challenge was the lack of an effective, energy-conserving street lighting management system in Gradiska. The existing system was manual and demanded considerable time and resources for maintenance and operation.

Moreover, the inability to adjust the lighting based on real-time factors resulted in unnecessary energy waste and high operational costs, while the lack of a centralized control system made it difficult to promptly identify and rectify technical issues, leading to prolonged periods of faulty lighting and consequent public inconvenience.

The Solution 

Unis Telekom built a complete LoRaWAN network and network server in the city of Gradiska, utilizing devices from X-Logic, Croatia based company. These devices enable LPWAN communication for remote lighting system management, supporting the DALI-2 protocol for efficient control.

TEKTELIC, as the chosen supplier of gateways for this ambitious project, contributed with KONA Macro gateways known for their exceptional quality and reliability. UNIS Telekom recognized the importance of TEKTELIC’s contribution in building a robust LoRaWAN infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity for smart lighting solutions across Gradiska.
