Frequently-asked questions

KONA Mega is a high-capacity, carrier-grade LoRaWAN gateway designed for large-scale public and private IoT networks. It supports high-density deployments across smart cities, utilities, industrial facilities and regional networks. Available in North American and European configurations, KONA Mega combines advanced RF filtering, support for multiple antennas, Ethernet and cellular connectivity, and a rugged IP67 enclosure.

KONA Mega is designed for high-density LoRaWAN networks supporting large numbers of connected sensors and meters. The North American version provides 64 + 8 receive channels and 4 transmit channels with frequency-duplex operation and supports up to 12 million received messages per day. The European version provides 32 + 4 receive channels and 4 transmit channels with time-duplex operation. Actual device capacity depends on reporting frequency, payload size and network conditions.

Yes. KONA Mega is built for advanced metering infrastructure: utility water, gas and electricity meters, plus dense smart city networks, where thousands of devices report from the same coverage area.

KONA Mega uses high-sensitivity receivers, multiple antenna options, and integrated RF cavity filters to improve LoRaWAN coverage in challenging environments. Its receiver diversity and interference rejection help maintain communication with distant or weakly transmitting devices. Transmit power varies by regional version, with the North American model supporting up to 1 W and the European model up to 14 dBm per antenna.

KONA Mega supports copper and optical Ethernet plus an integrated cellular modem. Built-in GPS with holdover keeps precise network timing and supports geolocation.

Yes. KONA Mega features a hardened IP67-rated enclosure designed for demanding outdoor installations. It operates in temperatures from −40°C to +60°C and supports remote configuration and software upgrades. Its carrier-grade design makes it suitable for long-term deployment at utility, industrial, and telecommunications sites.
