SEAL Ex is an ATEX-certified wearable LoRaWAN GPS tracker designed for personnel safety monitoring in hazardous locations. It combines GNSS positioning, BLE indoor location awareness and integrated safety features such as SOS and fall detection. Its IP67-rated enclosure and Zone 1 gas certification support use in appropriately classified industrial environments.
SEAL Ex offers an SOS button with audio and visual alarms, fall and impact detection, elevation detection, optional harness detection and geofencing — the same safety set as SEAL, in an ATEX-certified design.
SEAL and SEAL Ex both support GNSS outdoor positioning, BLE indoor location awareness, SOS alerts, fall and impact detection, and optional harness monitoring. The main difference is hazardous-area certification: SEAL Ex is ATEX/IECEx certified for specified Zone 1 gas environments, while standard SEAL is intended for non-hazardous locations. The devices also differ in operating temperature and battery-life specifications.
SEAL Ex supports multi-constellation GNSS positioning with a specified accuracy of 2.5 m under open-sky conditions. It uses GPS/QZSS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou, with a specified hot-start time of five seconds. For indoor location awareness, SEAL Ex supports BLE positioning with compatible infrastructure.
SEAL Ex offers up to 11 months of battery life, depending on reporting frequency, LoRaWAN data rate and operating conditions. Under the default reporting configuration specified in the datasheet, estimated battery life is approximately 6–7 months.
SEAL Ex is IP67-rated, ATEX Zone 1 certified for gas, and operates from −20°C to +52°C.
SEAL Ex works with compatible LoRaWAN gateways and network servers. Gateways installed outside classified hazardous areas may use standard LoRaWAN infrastructure. If a gateway must be installed within a hazardous area, an appropriately certified model, such as TEKTELIC KONA Macro Ex or KONA Mega Ex, should be selected according to the site’s zone and installation requirements.
